Terry is a solicitor at Country to Coast Lawyers and chair of the Queensland Law Society Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group.
Terry is a descendant of the Kamilaroi people. He grew up in Inala and became a trade qualified plumber, drainer and gas fitter at the age of 19. He pursued a career change and subsequently became a correctional officer and worked at the notorious Boggo Road Gaol. He was later appointed Commissioner of the Queensland Corrective Services Board on which he served until 1992. After a short break from Corrections in Queensland he went on to work in correctional centers with the Department of Corrections in New South Wales.
He joined the law profession later in life. He graduated from University in 2005 and was admitted as a solicitor in 2006.
Terry worked as a solicitor with South West Brisbane Community Legal Centre for many years. He has also volunteered on numerous community organization boards over the years. Terry’s contribution to the community was recognized by his local State Member presenting Terry with a Queensland Day Award this year. Terry is still very active in the Logan Community through his role as the Vice Chairperson of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation for Elders in Logan.
