Claire is a Senior Solicitor and the Practice Manager of the Professional Conduct team with Avant Law, Australia’s largest specialist medico-legal firm.
She has practised in health law for over 18 years and disciplinary law for almost 15 years. While she has primarily defended health practitioners and hospital employees throughout her career, in the past she has also acted for the Medical Board against practitioners in disciplinary proceedings. This range of work has allowed Claire to gain a balanced perspective of disciplinary law in Queensland.
In her current role, Claire leads a team of solicitors who act for doctors involved in Coronial Inquests, complaints to regulators such as the Office of the Health Ombudsman and the Medical Board of Australia. She appears for practitioners in the Coroner’s Court of Queensland as well as in referrals to the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
Claire is a member of the QLS Health and Disability Law Committee as well as the QLS Occupational Discipline Law Committee. She is also a volunteer Judicial Committee Member with Premier Touch Football.
