The Honourable Justice Ann Ainslie-Wallace – Queensland Law Society Symposium 2020

Family Court of Australia, Appeal Division

The Honourable Justice Ann Ainslie-Wallace graduated Bachelors of Arts/Laws from the University of NSW in 1978. She was admitted to the NSW Bar in December 1978 and practised as a barrister until her appointment to the bench of the District Court of NSW in July 1997. In 2010, she was appointed to the Appeals Division of the Family Court of Australia. While at the Bar her principal area of practice concerned family law and children’s law.

She pioneered the role of counsel for the child in family law proceedings that permitted the separate representation of children in proceedings affecting their welfare. She also appeared for children in proceedings under the Child Welfare legislation of NSW and was briefed by DOCS in NSW to prosecute difficult first instance cases.
